All About Kide Science’ STEAM Play-Based Learning
For children ages 3 to 8, Kide Science uses hands-on activities, imaginative storytelling, and the theatrical arts to pique their interest in the natural sciences. It is a research-based, squeal-inducing STEAM teaching platform for 3- to 8-year-old learners.
The goal of the platform is to cultivate the next generation of critical thinkers by providing access to high-quality educational resources. This new approach to early scientific teaching was born out of a five-year research project that began in 2013.
Through its work with Kide Scientific and its partnership with the University of Helsinki, which saw more than 1,000 young children participate in science clubs, the University of Helsinki has developed a STEAM teaching model that meets children where they are most comfortable: in their imaginations.
PhD Jenni Vartiainen, the company’s creator and brains behind Kide Science, spent years conducting research at the University of Helsinki, which she then incorporated into her curriculum. Kids science education company Kide Science has received a seed round of funding totaling €1.5 million from Sparkmind.vc, an early stage ed-tech investment firm. For the first time since starting the firm has raised a total of €2.4 million from investors including Zanichelli Venture.
Kide Science, a non-profit organization created in 2017, aims to inspire children’s interest in science and the natural environment. The platform is geared for children ages 3 to 8 and uses play-based learning, storytelling, and dramatic arts to teach them about the world around them.
