2014 – Quizziz participated in an accelerator program. It also received an early-stage venture capital in the same year.

2015 – The company was officially launched by founders Ankit Gupta and Deepak Joy Cheenath

Founder and Key People

Ankit Gupta

Ankit Gupta is one of the two co-founders of Quizziz. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer. The two co-founders decided to establish the company while teaching a remedial class.

Before coming up with Quizziz, Gupta has taken various roles for different companies. He worked as a Contract Developer at Google, Analytics Specialist at Opera Solutions, and Co-Founder at WizenWorld.

Aside from this, he has worked on a project called Object-oriented Design Metrics. He graduated from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science. His skill set includes developing web applications, machine learning, analytics, Microsoft SQL Server, and MVC.

Deepak Joy Cheenath

Deepak Joy Cheenath is another Co-Founder of Quizziz. He is passionate about software engineering and developing applications that empower and enlighten people.

Before establishing Quizziz with Gupta, Cheenath worked as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon and co-founded WizenWorld.

He obtained his Master of Science Degree in Information Systems from the Birla Institute of technology and Science.

His vast skill set includes expertise in various programming languages, as well as knowledge in Java, Data Structures, and Computer Science.

Funding Sources and Financial Profile

Quizziz was able to raise $47 million in total funding [4]. It received its first fund through an early-stage venture capital worth $500,000 [5]. Since then, it has been in several funding rounds.

Its first funding round was during the 2018 Venture Round in which it obtained $3 million from lead investor Nexus Ventures Partners and others. It was also in the Series A funding round of 2021, where it received ₹910 million from lead investor Eight Roads Ventures and other participants.

Its biggest funding yet is from the Series B round led by Tiger Global Management worth $31.5 million. Other investors include Chih-Yuan Yang, Quiet Capital, and GSV Ventures.
